Fall fest on Walnut Street … and it’s finally football season!
September 1: Rent due.
September 3: Labor Day. First Monday of every September. The holiday honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws and wellbeing of the country. Congress passed an act in 1884 to make Labor Day a legal holiday.
September 5: Late fee applies.
September 6: Missouri State Bears vs. Lincoln University. Plaster Stadium, 6 p.m.
September 7: First Friday Art Walk. Downtown Springfield. Starts at 6 p.m. Come wander, wonder, gawk, people-watch. It’s a fun night to feed your head.
September 15: Missouri State Bears vs. Northern Arizona. Plaster Stadium. 2 p.m.

September 15-16: 21st annual Cider Days on Walnut Street. A two-day arts and crafts festival on Historic Walnut Street. Cider Days is one of the largest fall festivals in southwest Missouri. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
September 22: The autumn equinox happens at 8:54 p.m. A Saturday celebration as the sun crosses the celestial equator and the nights now become longer than the days. Fall, y’all.
September 22: Coco — see it free in Nixa! The Movies in the Park series is presented by the Massengale Group. Starts at dusk. Free! Please bring lawn chairs or blankets. All movies are dependent on weather. No smoking and no alcohol. Nixa X-Center, 701 N. Taylor Way.
September 29: Family Weekend at MSU! Missouri State Bears vs. Illinois State. Plaster Stadium, 2 p.m.
September 29: Girls fish free at Bennett Spring State Park on this day with no tag or license required. Designated girls only fishing area, fishing and fly casting instructions as well as cooking and cleaning fish instructions. Starts at 7:30 a.m. and runs through 7:15 p.m. Bennett Spring is about an hour east of Springfield, in Laclede County. 26250 MO-64A. Call (417) 532-338 for directions and more information.
